Free Summer Concerts
When I lived in New Mexico, the museum where I worked would have free concerts by the Albuquerque Concert Band every other Wednesday from May to August. Many museums and public parks do this during the summer. Orchestras, jazz bands, concert bands, and even Shakespeare performances take place at these venues, and there’s no entry fee! Attending one of these events is a great way to enjoy the nice weather, some fun music, and the company of your significant other without spending money. Plus, it won’t add to your credit card debt if you have any.
Beach Day
The beach is one of the most foolproof frugal summer date ideas. Plus, instead of buying an overpriced snack from a restaurant near the beach, you can pack your own picnic!
Watch a Meteor Shower
This is one of my favorite summer activities! If you live in the city or around a lot of bright lights, you’ll have to drive out to more of a rural area to see all the stars. Bring a blanket or some folding chairs and just keep your eyes peeled for shooting stars! The Aquarids meteor shower is in late July, and the Perseids (one of the best meteor showers of the year) is in mid-August.
Go For a Walk in Your City
Take advantage of the nice weather and go explore your city! Sometimes you take the city you live in for granted and don’t check out the historical landmarks right down the street. For fun and frugal date, take your significant other around the city for an afternoon of sightseeing!
Try a New Recipe on the Grill
Summer is grilling season! Rather than going to a pricey restaurant, try out a new recipe with your S.O. on the grill. Better yet, make it a competition and see who’s the better cook!
