How To Effectively Build Credit

If you like our content, make sure to subscribe to our channel!

Building credit is important for consumers who plan to eventually make large purchases, such as a house or a car.

Here are 5 tips on how to effectively build credit:

1. Get a secured credit card

If you have no credit history, you may not qualify for a “normal” credit card, so a secured card is another option.

2. Open a credit card

If you can get a regular credit card, make small charges on it and pay the balance off in full every month.

3. Become an authorized user

If you’re a student, you should consider becoming an authorized user on someone else’s account, such as a parent, to build credit.

4. Request a credit limit increase

Having a higher limit lowers the credit utilization rate and increases your credit score.

5. Practice good habits

Make all of your payments on time and in full.
Building a good score can take several months of on-time payments.
