American Consumer Credit Counseling Remembers Our Co-Founder Steve Trumble: 1952-2021

ACCC announces leadership appointments and restructuring

Boston, MA – March 17, 2021

American Consumer Credit Counseling today announced a leadership restructuring and series of appointments following the recent death of the ‘company’s co-founder – Steven “Steve” Trumble.

Mr. Trumble, 67, passed away March 1, 2021. He co-founded American Consumer Credit Counseling (ACCC) in 1991 – providing budget counseling services to individual consumers in Waltham, MA. Today, ACCC is headquartered in Newton, MA, and is one of the leading non-profit debt management and credit counseling agencies in the United States.

The company announced that Allen Amadin has been named President and CEO, and Katie Ross named Executive Vice President. Additionally, Tracey Macomber was named Vice President of Governance, and Donna Conley, the very first employee of Steve’s when he opened for business, will remain as Vice President. The leadership restructuring was part of an existing ACCC succession plan that Mr. Trumble had established.

“Steve was not only the co-founder, CEO and President of ACCC, but he was also a constant and reliable source of inspiration, guidance, and kindness to all those who worked for or with American Consumer Credit Counseling”,” said Amadin, who previously served as Counseling Manager and has been with ACCC since 2000″. His commitment to our clients and partners was absolute – one of the many great examples he set for all of us each day. He will be missed terribly here and throughout the industry of budget and credit counseling.”

Mr. Trumble grew up in Sudbury and was the son of June Trumble of Sudbury and the late Richard Trumble. He leaves a daughter, Jennifer Wall (Craig) of Waltham and a son, Steven Trumble, Jr. of Marlboro; as well as sisters Cathy Fradette (Don) of Northbridge and Melissa Helsel of Kirkland, WA; brothers Mark Trumble of Sudbury and Kenneth Trumble of Sudbury; and several nieces and nephews.

“Steve’s vision for American Consumer Credit Counseling began over 30 years ago in Waltham where he counseled individuals on a one-on-one basis,” said Ross, who has been with ACCC since 2002 and previously served as Manager of Education and Development and Housing. “His perseverance and desire to help people regain control of their lives is the true spirit behind American Consumer Credit Counseling.”

ACCC provides credit counseling, debt management, bankruptcy counseling, housing counseling and student loan management, and financial education.

“Steve always believed that everyone deserves a second chance and contributed much of his time to help educate consumers about financial management,” said Macomber, a member of ACCC’s management team since 2001 who most recently served as manager of Quality Assurance, Creditor Relations, and Compliance.

In 2012, Mr. Trumble realized a dream fueled by the nostalgia of recalling the first film he had seen inside the Fine Arts Theatre in Maynard, MA as a child in 1962. The Theatre was put up for sale, and Mr. Trumble acquired it – modernizing the operations for digital projection and investing in other upgrades. It became a great passion of his for the next nine years.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Trumble’s name to Rosie’s Place at www. rosiesplace.org or to Shriners Hospitals for Children at https://lovetotherescue.org/ or by mail to Development Office, Shriners Hospitals for Children-Boston, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
