National nonprofit ACCC joins city-led movement to place 20,000 Boston residents in good jobs by 2022.
Boston, MA – March 1, 2018
National nonprofit American Consumer Credit Counseling (ACCC) announced today that it has joined BostonHires, a program launched by City of Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh. As a BostonHires Champion, ACCC is committed to providing jobs that pay a living wage and employer-sponsored benefits to unemployed and under-employed Boston residents. ACCC employs over 120 committed and talented professionals, with an average length of employment of eight years. The median tenure for worker age 25-34 is 3.2 years.
“We are excited to be a part of the City of Boston’s BostonHires Program,” said Steve Trumble, President and CEO of American Consumer Credit Counseling, which is based in Newton, MA. “At ACCC, we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work. We also understand the financial struggles facing many Americans. By joining BostonHires, we have the opportunity to offer unemployed and under-employed residents with quality jobs that provide a living wage and valuable benefits.”
Under the direction of the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, BostonHires is a city-led movement to support unemployed and under-employed Boston residents with good jobs – specifically jobs paying at least the living minimum wage, with half or more of those offering employer-sponsored benefits. The goal of BostonHires is to place 20,000 residents in good jobs by 2022.
“We salute American Consumer Credit Counseling for affirming its commitment to good hiring practices as a BostonHires Champion,” said Trinh Nguyen, director of the Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development. “Employers like ACCC are essential to the success of BostonHires and, ultimately, to the shared economic prosperity of our city. Together, we can change families’ lives for the better.”
