Mission Statement

"To promote and support financial literacy through community partnership opportunities that provide individuals with the essential tools needed for a healthy and smart financial future."

What is the PAL Program?

The PAL program was created to support and promote the financial literacy efforts of local community groups across Massachusetts.

Throughout the year, ACCC makes monetary contributions to various community organizations to assist current, or start-up, financial based educational programs. Financial awareness serves as a critical component in supporting proper budget maintenance and responsible credit management skills and ACCC is committed to this educational discipline.

How Does PAL Promote Financial Literacy?

  • ACCC grants go towards fulfilling an organization's needs. Recipient can utilize funds to better educate consumers.
  • ACCC provides financial education workshops based upon specified needs of the community partner.
  • ACCC donates education materials (books, pamphlets, worksheets) that the organization can distribute at will.

February 2008:

ACCC Community Outreach Coordinator, Matthew Paradise (Left), presents a PAL grant to School Liaison, Leslie Centeno (Far Left), student, Jaqan Leatherwood (Right), and Program Manager, Anthony McLendon (Far right) of the Community Partners in Action, Young Offender Program.

About Our Partner

Through the Young Offender Program, located in Hartford, CT, juvenile delinquent clients are assigned (by the court) to participate while they await disposition of their cases. In some cases, clients are referred to the program as part of their probation terms. The students attend classes at the Alternative Learning Center, or are monitored in Public High Schools. The program runs once a week, for 6 weeks, and new enrollees are accepted on rolling admission.

The program seeks to educate students in the areas of personal financial management. The topics that are covered, but not limited to, include: financial goal setting, budgeting, and understanding credit. ACCC is proud to be involved with an organization that provides financial education to individuals who otherwise might not have the opportunity to get it on their own.
